Dance is power. Classes not only focus on technical proficiency but also on somatic depth, and collective expression. Although intentionally planned and structured – all sessions prioritize human experience over rigid syllabus: risk-taking and discovery unfolds. Each experience leaves the individual equipped with the skills, confidence, and curiosity to carry movement far beyond the studio walls.

Testimonials
Lea is such a vibrant presence! She is this glorious mix of grounded strength and playful sass. As a dancer and performer, she has artfully honed her craft and commands attention with her expansive, powerful work onstage. As a teacher, Lea’s energy really carries the class, whether jazz or contemporary. She is encouraging and warm, while also rooted in strong technique and in-depth kinesthetic knowledge. I always leave Lea’s classes feeling like I both got an amazing physical workout and a jolt of life-giving joy.

Lea strikes a beautiful, rare balance between elite technique and humble instruction. I have been her student for 8 years, and she has a unique ability to work with adult beginners without an ounce of ego. She focuses on the somatic side of movement, making sure you are not just hitting steps, but connecting with your internal self, your own rhythm and energy–all without judgement. For any adult looking for a safe, expert and healing environment, I cannot recommend Lea enough.

Lea’s class is always energizing, joyful, and instructive. She is so knowledgeable and gives excellent, insightful feedback, yet the whole time we are having a big dance party. I love, love, love her energy and kindness.

Lea D’Arminio teaches a rigorously researched and thoughtfully constructed jazz class rooted in the lineage of Matt Mattox, Jack Cole, and Katherine Dunham. Her classes are expertly sequenced—challenging, engaging, and artistically grounded. Drawing on Lea’s extensive training in both jazz dance and strength and conditioning, students leave her classes with a heightened kinetic awareness of their bodies, a deeper understanding of jazz dance technique, and intellectual frameworks that support long-term artistic growth. Training with Lea in both her jazz and strength and conditioning classes is essential for dancers seeking technically informed, historically grounded, and sustainable practice.
Jessica T. Pearson, Professor of Dance, Rhode Island College
As a working mom of 2 young boys, I rarely find time for myself. Dancing with Lea not only provided a great workout but it allowed me to take a much needed mental break from the everyday rush. Lea is an amazing person and a great teacher. She works with dancers of all levels and meets you where you are while gently nudging you out of your comfort zone! I really enjoyed my time dancing with Lea and look forward to more to come!
